Ann-Christine ‘Ankie’ Hartzén, Senior lecturer at the Lund University (Sweden), will assess the new minimum wage directive on basis of its strengths and weaknesses in relation to the Commission’s ambitions of creating an instrument that will contribute to decreasing in-work poverty in the EU and strengthen systems of collective bargaining. The Swedish opposition against the directive will be explained in order to provide a perspective on the potential capacity of the directive to generate the results aimed for.
